Architect or Architectural Associate (1 Opening) — On-site, Aberdeen WA
Harbor Architects LLC has one full-time opening starting January 2026. We will hire either a Licensed Architect or an Architectural Associate, depending on the candidate. We are a small, collaborative practice where each team member works directly with clients and sees projects from concept to completion. This is an on-site role in Aberdeen, Washington. What you will work onResidential, commercial, municipal, and educational projects. Programming, schematic design, code research, design development, construction documents, bidding support, and construction administration.
Minimum qualifications for either path• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited university• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, self-motivated work style• Proficiency with CAD and modeling tools. VisualCadd, Revit, and SketchUp experience are helpful• Proficiency in MS Office• A healthy respect for the construction trades and buildable details• Awareness of codes and permitting processes in Washington, including I-Codes and WSEC
Licensed Architect:• Active U.S. architectural license. Washington preferred or eligible for reciprocity• Minimum 5 years of professional experience • Experience coordinating consultants and managing RFIs, submittals, and site visits
Architectural Associate:• On a path to licensing or willing to pursue licensing
Typical tasks• Prepare and coordinate drawings and specifications• Support or lead documentation depending on level hired• Coordinate with consultants, manage permit submittals and respond to agency comments• Participate in bidding support and construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and site observation• Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and colleaguesFinal candidates will be subject to a background check consistent with the Washington Fair Chance Act.
Salary and benefitsIf hired as Licensed Architect: starting salary range $85,000 to $95,000 annually, paid at an hourly rate depending on experience.If hired as Architectural Associate: starting salary range $60,000 to $70,000 annually, paid at an hourly rate depending on experience.• Retirement: IRA with employer match• Health insurance: Employee premium paid• Paid vacation and sick leave• 9 paid holidays• Support through NCARB hours and financial support for ARE testing• Annual wage review
