SEAPORT LANDINGGRAYS HARBOR HISTORICAL SEAPORT ASSOCIATIONABERDEEN, WASHINGTON
Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, GHHSA, acquired 38 acres of the Aberdeen Weyerhaeuser Saw Mill in 2013, four years after the mill was shutdown. For the first time since their creation in 1986, GHHSA has a home on the water for their two vessels, the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain. Seaport Landing is now in the works to create not only a home for these traveling vessels, but to also continue GHHSA’s mission of education through activities on site available year round.
Harbor Architects put together a team of consultants in an effort to secure the job of developing Seaport Landing to its fullest potential. Together with SRG Partnership, Berger Partnership, Maul Foster & Alongi, Heartland, and PRR, Harbor Architects’ team was awarded the job in June of 2013. Harbor Architects is serving as the prime consultant, and provides the local ‘feet on the ground’ support for GHHSA as this process continues.
Initial work on the project has consisted of grant acquisition, site cleanup, and creation of marketing materials for fundraising efforts, and providing information to the community about the project.
