EARLY LEARNING FACILITYYMCA OF GRAYS HARBORHOQUIAM, WASHINGTON

In 2019 the YMCA of Grays Harbor was looking for a way to increase their Early Head Start program capacity, when the neighboring pharmacy building went up for sale. Harbor Architects LLC was brought on to help the YMCA navigate the historic preservation requirements while adding 920 sf of additional floor space. It was important to the community that the glass storefronts and signature crowns remain part of the building. Harbor Architects LLC worked with YMCA staff to create three classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a commercial kitchen, staff office, and covered outdoor play area.The design team and construction teams worked together to navigate bidding and construction around Covid lockdowns and State restrictions, and a ribbon cutting was held in September of 2022 opening the facility for the 22-23 school year.
