GENERATIONS BUILDINGQUINAULT INDIAN NATIONTAHOLAH, WASHINGTON
The Quinault Indian Nation has committed to move the Taholah Village out of the lowlands to nearby high ground as a measure to substantially reduce the risk of damage and increase safety in a tsunami event. In the continuing effort of this endeavor, QIN selected creation of the Generations Building, to house young children and elders, honoring both generations. Harbor Architects LLC was brought in to complete an existing preliminary design and move the project to Construction Documents and Construction. The facility accommodates a Daycare and Head Start Program with 96 children, and a senior program with multiple activity rooms in over 29,000 sf of space. Also included in the design is a commercial kitchen, large public gathering space, and offices for QIN’s IT department. Construction was completed in May of 2021.
