POLICE DEPARTMENT & JAIL REMODELCITY OF HOQUIAMHOQUIAM, WASHINGTON
The city of Hoquiam operated a 14-bed men’s jail and a 4-bed women’s jail.  Analysis by the city revealed the need and opportunity to house local, short-sentence inmates as a source of revenue for the city.  To increase the inmate capacity, Harbor Architects LLC designed an addition to the existing jail that houses up to 12 female inmates, with 1 room available for solitary lockup.  The previous women’s rooms were converted to additional men’s solitary cells.  In addition, improvements and repairs were made to the men’s shower facilities.  Construction began in October 2015 and was substantially complete by April 2016.
